In case you missed it last night, Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird will resign from his position in the Harper cabinet as early as today.
Sources say that Baird, who has served in several senior portfolios in Prime Minister Stephen Harper's cabinet, has told members of his staff that he won't run again and will be resigning this week.
In a statement late Monday, spokesman Rick Roth said Baird would make "an announcement" in the House of Commons Tuesday at 10 a.m. ET.
There have been some delays on the Lakeshore West GO Train line this morning, and the first GO bus of the day out of Hamilton to Union was cancelled.

Periods of snow are in the forecast for Wednesday morning, before clearing up by mid day. Wednesday's High is -3 C.

Decorated war veteran Al Wilson was due to get another medal this morning — the U.S. Congressional Gold Medal for his service in the Devil's Brigade, a legendary special service force so revered that it served as the model for the U.S. navy SEALS.
But it wasn't meant to be. Al died yesterday at the age of 90, just one day before the ceremony. Hamilton is now missing a piece of its history.
And the project lead of of the Keith Community Hub is backing a controversial gasification plant proposal in the city's north end.
The Keith Community Hub supports the proposed Port Fuels and Materials Services Inc. gasplasma plant, the group said in a media release Monday, because of the jobs it promises to bring to the area.
