A group of local music industry members are compiling a directory they hope will be the "best resource for all things musical" in Hamilton ahead of the 2015 Juno Awards in March.
The "Greater Hamilton Music Directory" promises to list bands, record stores, recording studios and venues, as well as support services like equipment rentals, graphic design and legal help.
The directory's IndieGoGo campaign is organized like a call for advertisements, with each funding level from $25 up to $750 corresponding to how large you'd like your band or service to be featured in the directory. Depending on the level, funders can also receive discounts for recording time, t-shirt designs and other perqs.

Drummer Glen Brown has published two previous issues of "Greater Hamilton musician" magazine, which is the parent for the directory. Brown is spearheading the campaign, which has raised $1,205 of its $5,000 goal so far. Brown said meeting that goal would allow him to "get off to a good start" on designing and printing the directory. He said he hopes to see the directory include a diversity of genres and individual artists.
"It's like a place where people identify themselves, standing up and saying collectively, 'We are the people who are doing music in Hamilton,'" Brown said.
"Today, Hamilton is once again 'the ambitious city,'" Brown says in a video call for contributions.
