Like Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis before him, winter is back – with a vengeance.
Hamilton will be facing cold temperatures, snow, ice pellets and rain for much of Tuesday, according to a special weather statement from Environment Canada.
A sharp Arctic cold front has passed through Southern Ontario, ushering out the mild weather we've been enjoying for the last few days. Now, northwesterly winds are bringing much colder Arctic air to the city, with temperatures plunging below freezing early this morning.
Environment Canada says snowfall amounts of 5 to 10 cm are possible for much of Southern Ontario – though only 2 to 4 cm are currently in the forecast for Hamilton. A total of 10 to 15 cm of snow is possible for some areas east of Georgian Bay.
"Driving conditions will deteriorate quickly as the freezing precipitation and snow move in," reads the Environment Canada special weather statement. "Motorists should be prepared for hazardous winter driving conditions due to low visibility in areas of heavier snow, and accumulating snow on untreated roads."
The snow is expected to end over all regions late in the day. "Winter's Victory will be only temporary, as temperatures will moderate back up closer to normal by the end of the week," environment Canada says.
Here's what Hamiltonians were saying about the snow:
