CBC Meteorologist Ross Hull's Hamilton Forecast 2:33

A winter storm warning is in effect for Hamilton and surrounding cities, as up to 15 cm of snow is expected to fall Friday night and Saturday.

A storm coming from the U.S. is starting to move northeast, towards southwestern Ontario, Environmental Canada said in an alert.

There is a 60 per cent chance of flurries Friday afternoon and evening, but snow will start falling more heavily after midnight. A low of -11 C is expected Friday night, along with about 5 cm of snow.

The bulk of the snow will come Saturday. If you're out driving, try to plan to get to your destination before late afternoon – that's when blowing snow is expected and would affect driving visibility. By Saturday night, Environment Canada indicates snowfall measuring between 10-15 cm.

The weather will be back to normal winter conditions on Sunday – a 60 per cent chance of flurries and a high of -9 C.
