Hamilton police have charged a Stoney Creek man with first-degree murder after they found the body of a female in a Riverdale Avenue apartment Tuesday night.

Police say, shortly after 11 p.m., they received a 9-1-1 call from the parking lot of Eastgate Square from a male who reported that he had just killed a woman. Officers went to a Riverdale Avenue address and found the body of a female. In a press release, police say she was "the obvious victim of a homicide."

A 35-year-old Stoney Creek man has been charged.

Police say the victim's name is not being released at this time as detectives are still trying to identify her and her relationship to the man arrested.
