The coroner has determined the cause of death of the woman killed in an alleged east Hamilton homicide on Tuesday night.
The victim died of blunt force trauma, Hamilton police said in a Thursday news release.
Police say they won't release the victim's name until they contact her family to confirm her identity.
Hamilton police have charged a Stoney Creek man with first-degree murder after they found the body of a female in a Riverdale Drive apartment Tuesday night.
Shortly after 11 p.m. on Tuesday, police say, they received a 911 call from the parking lot of Eastgate Square from a male who reported that he had just killed a woman.
The mall is located half a block from the apartment building.
Officers found the woman's body inside a six-storey apartment building that stands at the corner of Riverdale Drive and Queenston Road.
Dalibor Klaric, 35, of Stoney Creek, faces a first-degree murder charge in the case.
Investigators are asking for anyone with information about the incident to call Det. Benoit Thibodeau of the homicide unit at 905-546-3926 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477
