2 men in custody after stabbing in downtown Hamilton

Two men are in custody after a downtown Hamilton stabbing that sent a 27-year-old male to hospital early on New Year's Day.

Around 4:40 a.m., police received a call about an assault on Tisdale Street North.

Authorities found the victim, who had received multiple stab wounds, and rushed him to hospital.

He is in stable condition, Michael Spencer, a police spokesperson, told CBC Hamilton later on Tuesday morning.

Police wouldn't release information about how the incident came about.

"It's a fairly complex investigation and it's still ongoing," Spencer noted.
