Two suspects sought after downtown Hamilton mugging

Police are searching for two people in connection with a mugging that occurred early Thursday morning.

After responding to a call about a disturbance near the intersection of Catharine and Jackson streets, police found a 27-year-old Hamilton man who said he'd be approached by two men who asked for the time.

According to police, he was then punched and fell to the ground. The assailants continued to kick and punch the victim, then grabbed his phone and backpack, which contained tools.

The suspects fled in a silver car and were last seen driving eastbound on Jackson Street.

The victim sufferred minor injuries, but refused to go to hospital, police said.

One suspect is described as male with a medium build, six feet two inches in height, with black shoulder-length hair, a mustache and a goatee. He was wearing a brown jacket.

The other is described as light-skinned male in his mid-40s, bald, five feet seven inches in height, with a long, white goatee. He was wearing a blue jean jacket, blue jeans and black cowboy boots.
