Yet another Hamilton taxi driver has been robbed at knifepoint, this time around Emerald and Shaw Streets early Wednesday morning.

The driver picked up a man around King Street East at Ashley Street at 3:18 a.m. and drove him to the Emerald area to drop him off.
But when they got there, police say, the customer pulled out a large knife and demanded money. He also said he had a gun, but the victim didn't see a gun during the incident.
The man grabbed the driver's cellphone and a small amount of cash within reach before he got out of the car. He was last seen running south over the railway tracks.
Police responded with the canine unit but didn't find the man.
No one was injured and the investigation is ongoing. The suspect is described as:
- A white male, about 5'8", medium build, mid 20s.
- Wearing a black and red hooded shirt and blue jeans.
- He had a backpack.

Hamilton cab drivers have been the target of several robberies so far this year.
In February, police released surveillance video of a man and woman purportedly robbing a driver at knifepoint. Earlier that month, police say, three women used a knife and hammer to rob a cab driver. Police released video of that event too.
