Hamilton police are looking for a woman they believe stole the purse, in a grocery store, of an 87-year-old woman.

Police say it happened at the Freshco Supermarket on Barton St. East on June 20 at 2:28 p.m.. The suspect approached the victim while she was grocery shopping.

The 87-year-old woman was standing, with the aid of her buggy, in the frozen food section when the suspect struck up a conversation.

Police say the suspect then reached inside the buggy and picked up the victim's purse then immediately walked away. When the victim noticed her purse was gone she called police.

Police say they have learned that someone had attempted to use the victim's credit card but no purchases were made.

The suspect is described as a white female with a medium build. Police say she was wearing a black t-shirt with white wording on the front as well as a black and navy striped skirt with a grey, green baseball hat and sunglasses.
