A Brantford man was injured after clipping a car on the Stoney Creek Mountain Saturday, police say — but even that didn't keep him at the scene of an accident.

The collision happened around 3 p.m., when officers were called about a motorcycle that clipped the front of a car, lost control and struck a curb in the Winterberry and Mud Street area.

The driver was "obviously injured," police say, but he was seen climbing into a nearby car and then driving off without his motorcycle. He had asked a passing driver to give him a ride, but that person quickly realized something was wrong and told him to get out of the car.

By the time police got there, the driver was gone. Officers later found him and he was arrested to failing to remain at the scene of an accident. He was then taken to hospital to be treated for a non life-threatening injury. On top of all that, the motorcycle also wasn't properly plated, police say.

A 35-year-old Brantford man was charged with failing to remain. The investigation is ongoing.
