Hamilton Daystarter: Everything you need to know Tuesday

Written By Unknown on Selasa, 08 April 2014 | 22.46

It's a damp one out there this morning, Hamilton. Grab your umbrella and your galoshes on the way out the door – but dress in some layers, as it's set to clear up later in the day.

GO Transit isn't reporting any troubles on lines connecting to Hamilton this morning.

The OPP is advising motorists to allow extra time for your morning commute, thanks to changing weather and wet road conditions. Here are the notices about problems on Hamilton area roads:

  • Hwy 403 EB at Hwy 6 South, Ancaster: two vehicle collision on the right shoulder, no injuries 8:28 a.m.
  • A vehicle collision on the 403, eastbound on the ramp to the Linc. 8:11 a.m.
  • A vehicle collision on Rymal Road West. 7:55 a.m.
  • Traffic on the Jolley Cut. 7:55 a.m.
  • Hwy 403 eastbound at Hwy 6, Hamilton: two vehicle collision blocking the centre lane, no injuries, 7:36 a.m.

The rain you see out your window should end this morning. Then expect a mix of sun and cloud with fog patches dissipating this morning.

Environment Canada is calling for northeast winds of 20 km/h gusting to 50 km/h, becoming northwest 40 km/h gusting to 60 km/h late this morning. Today's high is 8 C.

Expect a mostly clean night with temperatures dipping below the freezing mark. The forecasted low is – 3 C.

Tomorrow should be a nice one – the forecast is calling for a sunny day with highs of 9 C.

After years of discussion, Hamilton has unveiled proposed Emergency Detour Routes to help drivers navigate around increasing common highway collisions that close the QEW or Highway 403 and paralyze traffic throughout the city.

The proposed routes will guide motorists through alternate routes and city streets then back to the highway to avoid the jam.

And Hamilton activist Ken Stone says it's "outrageous" that it took the Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) nearly a year to respond to his complaint about two agents' January 2013 visit to his home. A longtime labour and anti-racism advocate, Stone sent the spy agency a letter last April regarding an encounter he had with CSIS operatives earlier in the year.

German journalist and photographer Jonas Ginter has managed to figure out how to create 360-degree video — and all it takes is six GoPro cameras, a 3D printed camera holder and a lot of technical prowess.
