Hamilton musicians strumming for hope and charity

A north-end Hamilton bar is once again opening its doors for breakfast and charity rather than booze and late-night partying.

On Friday, Jan. 24, This Ain't Hollywood is hosting the Strumming for Hope benefit in support of Interval House Hamilton.

There are plenty of big local names performing, including Harrison Kennedy, Max Kerman of the Arkells, Lori Yates and Buckshot Bebee, Luke Bentham from The Dirty Nil, Weekend Riot Club and more.

"The importance of community assistance is certainly indicated by the support from some of the most active local Hamilton musicians," the bar said in a press release.

Interval House of Hamilton directs all its work towards the elimination of violence against women, equity and creating a violence-free community. They offer community programs at Jared's Place and the Flamborough Women's Resource Centre, as well as a 22-bed shelter to help abused women and their children.

Various James Street cafes and eateries will also be teaming up with This Ain't Hollywood to provide breakfast goodies and warm drinks.

The club encourages show-goers to bring non-perishable food items or cash donation for Interval House on Friday. Tickets are $15, and that includes a hot breakfast and drinks. There are also prizes to be given out, including an acoustic guitar signed by all of the performing musicians.
