An intoxicated man caused a disturbance Thursday night at a Hamilton restaurant after he allegedly assaulted customers and spat blood at an officer, police said.
The incident started inside Kelsey's, near Queenston Road and Nash Road North, around 8 p.m. A man began arguing with staff after servers discontinued his bar service, police said. He then drank other customers' beverages before pushing and shoving the customers.
After a customer removed him from the restaurant, the man started fighting with other customers outside, police said. He punched a customer in the face and caused minor injuries.
As the police were called and tried to arrest him, the man "intentionally spat blood in the face of an officer," according to police report. While the paramedics treated those with minor injuries from the fight, including the intoxicated man, he also tried to bite the paramedic on the arm, police said.
The man was transported to hospital due to his level of intoxication and was later released.
A 23-year-old man from Stoney Creek is facing assault-related charges and causing a disturbance.
