A Toronto man has been arrested for impaired driving after a car almost collided with an off duty police officer on the 403 early Saturday, police say.

It happened around 5:15 a.m. when the officer was in a car on the 403 and another car almost smashed into her.

The car then sped past her moving quickly, so the officer kept watch and called it in to on duty police.

The car was found at a dead stop in the passing lane on the 403 near Alberton Road with its emergency lights flashing.

The driver was arrested and taken to the police station, where he failed a breathalyzer test.

A 31-year-old man from Toronto was charged with impaired driving and over 80.
