A brick furniture truck that ran a red light caused an HSR bus to slam into a building near the Hamilton GO Station Friday, police say, and now both the truck driver and the bus driver have been charged with traffic offences.

It happened around 9:30 a.m. Friday, police say, at the exit of the Hamilton GO Station that turns on to John Street. The truck slammed into the side of the bus, sending it careening into the nearby Canadian Mental Health Association building.

Four people were taken to hospital, according to Hamilton paramedic services, but no one had serious injuries. Police say they were dealing with stiff necks.

Police have announced the driver of the delivery truck has been charged with disobeying a red light and having an improper licence classification.

Police also charged the bus driver with failing to wear a seatbelt.
