Best Hamilton Song: Dirty Nil versus Jeremy Fisher

Written By Unknown on Senin, 09 Februari 2015 | 22.46

CBC Hamilton's best Hamilton song competition is back with two of the most exciting acts to come out of the city in recent years – the unbridled punk energy that is The Dirty Nil versus Jeremy Fisher's masterful songwriting.

With Hamilton as host city for the 2015 Juno Awards, we're looking for the best song by a Hamilton artist, and we're doing it with a no holds barred, single elimination, bracket-style online tournament.

Crowbar beat out Caribou in Saturday's voting, and is moving on to the next round.

Here are our next two contestants in the first round, and we want you to vote for your favourite. Voting for this match up closes at midnight Monday.

The Dirty Nil: F---in' Up Young

Dundas' Dirty Nil play rock and roll with the kind of energy that's solely reserved for people who truly love rock and roll. The band's stuff is fun, fast, and undeniably catchy.

The trio is poised to do big things in 2015. Fresh off tours through the U.S. and a main stage spot at last year's Supercrawl, they'll be joining the Vans Warped tour this summer to give a bunch of kids a live show they likely won't forget.

Jeremy Fisher: High School

Hamilton might have lost Jeremy Fisher to Ottawa a few years ago, but his music is still an integral part of the city. Fisher creates some of the most well constructed pop music the area has ever seen.

It's difficult to nail down just one of his tunes (The Bride is Dead gets an honourable mention here as one of the catchiest songs ever) but High School remains one of his best-loved tracks.

Now it's up to you to choose – which is the better Hamilton song? We've got two tunes opining on the avails of youth, so you need to pick one.
