'Poor driving conditions' predicted for morning rush

Environment Canada is warning drivers throughout the Golden Horseshoe and southwestern Ontario that strong winds and blowing snow will make driving hazardous overnight and into the morning commute.

A weather system from the west and "yet another Arctic cold front" will move across the region overnight, bringing between two and five centimetres of snow for most areas, forecasters said in special weather statements issued late Thursday. Other areas could see as much as 10 centimetres.

The statements covers communities including Toronto, Windsor, Hamilton and Kitchener-Waterloo.

The light snowfall, combined with high winds, will lead to reduced visibility in some areas which will "likely extend into the morning rush hour on Friday."

Motorists are advised to leave extra time to reach their destination.

The forecast for Friday morning in Toronto calls for a 40 per cent chance of flurries and a high of -5 C, continuing a cold snap that has gripped the province all week.
