Christmas is at the top of most people's agendas this week. But here are six other things to do between now and Dec. 27.
1. Visit the new Tim Hortons museum.
If you haven't been there yet, maybe it's time to go. Tim Hortons has built a new two-storey location at the site of its original Ottawa Street store, where the franchise began. The second floor is a museum that features memorabilia from chain's last half century. The store is open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day, except for Christmas and New Years days, when it's closed.
2. Celebrate New Year's Eve early.
Dundurn Castle is having an early New Year's Eve celebration on Dec. 27. There will be music, an extended tour of Sir Allan MacNab's former lavish home and a chance to sample traditional holiday foods in the kitchen. The event is for all ages and the cost is $27 per person. It runs from 7 to 9 p.m.
3. Head to Winterfest.
Royal Botanical Gardens is celebrating Winterfest from Dec. 27 to 31. There will be winter games, crafts, camp fires and activities. The events are outdoors, so bundle up. Winterfest is from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Arboretum at Royal Botanical Gardens, 680 Plains Rd. W., Burlington.
4. Hunt for ghosts.
For those tired of hearing about the holidays, go ghost hunting instead. Ghost Walks is holding a ghost walk of Custom House at 51 Stuart St. on Dec. 27 from 7 to 10 p.m. The night will include a Victorian séance and the use of real ghost hunting tours. It costs $20 for adults, $10 for kids and $15 for seniors.
5. Take in a show.
Fred Eaglesmith's Traveling Show will be in Hamilton on Dec. 27, which is a Christmas tradition. It's billed as an old-time original rock show circa 1996, with vintage clothes and a five-piece band. The show is at the Bay City Music Hall, 50 Leander Dr., at 8 p.m. Doors open at 7 p.m. For advance tickets, which are $25, visit fredeaglesmith.com or get them from Mickey McGuire's Cheese in Dundas. Tickets are $30 at the door.
Shen Yun is playing at Hamilton Place on Dec. 27 at 7:30 p.m. The performance of music and dance celebrates 5,000 years of Chinese culture. It includes classically trained dancers, animated backdrops and an orchestra. Tickets start at $55 and are available through Ticketmaster.
6. Watch hockey.
The Hamilton Bulldogs take on the Adirondack Flames at FirstOntario Centre at 7 p.m. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster.
