Pan Am Games soccer matches scheduled for Hamilton's new stadium have been the most popular category for early-bird ticket requests. The window to request early-bird tickets closes Monday at 9 p.m. ET.
With the soccer competition running the length of the games in one of the events largest venues the high volume of tickets available means the soccer match requests are proving more popular than even the Cirque de Soleil Opening Ceremonies in Toronto. If more people request tickets for an event than capacity, the requests will be granted by lottery. There will be 400,000 soccer tickets for men's and women's matches.
More than 100,000 tickets have been requested for all events.
"We're encouraging everybody to get their requests in now so they can ensure they get tickets to their favourite events," said Teddy Katz, games spokesman.
Here are the most sought-after tickets, according to Pan Am Games organizers:
1. Football (soccer), CIBC Hamilton Pan Am Soccer Stadium (a.k.a. Tim Hortons Field)
2. Pan Am Opening Ceremony, a Cirque du Soleil-produced show July 10 in downtown Toronto
3. Equestrian, Caledon Pan Am Equestrian Park and Pan Am Cross-Country Centre in Mono
4. Athletics – track and field, York University, Toronto
5. Gymnastics – artistic gymnastics, Toronto Coliseum located in CIBC Pan Am Park, Toronto
6. Aquatics – swimming, University of Toronto, Scarborough
7. Aquatics – diving, University of Toronto, Scarborough
8. Volleyball – beach volleyball, Chevrolet Beach Volleyball Centre located in CIBC Pan Am Park, Toronto
9. Volleyball – indoor volleyball, Exhibition Centre located in CIBC Pan Am Park, Toronto
10. Aquatics – synchronized swimming, University of Toronto, Scarborough
