An underground natural gas leak was detected Saturday morning on Fennell Avenue. Police and fire crews have closed the road to pedestrian and car traffic between East 26th and Upper Wentworth.
The leak was not caused by digging or construction, said Hamilton Police Service Staff Sergeant Rob Hersics. A passerby smelled the leak this morning and alerted authorities, Hersics said.
The road will be closed for several hours.
