A man is in Hamilton General Hospital after a stabbing at the downtown Karaoke bar Happy Hourz early Thursday.
Emergency crews were called to the bar at MacNab Street North and Vine Street around 2 a.m.
An "altercation" on the patio facing vine street "quickly escalated" when a 32-year-old man stabbed a 27-year-old man, Const. Debbie McGreal-Dinning says.
The victim was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries, she says.
Police aren't yet sure if the two men knew each other, or if there's any connection between them. "The altercation began between some people on the patio and then this guy stepped in," she said.
The suspect left before police arrived. Police dogs were brought in to track him, but weren't able to find him.
No arrests have been made, but police are aware of the suspect's identity and there is "no danger to public safety," McGreal-Dinning said.
This is the second stabbing in two years in the Happy Hourz building.
A man who lived in an apartment above the bar was stabbed several times back in 2012.
