Environment Canada is investigating reports of a Tornado in the town of Sheffield Monday evening.
Thunderstorm activity moved through the Sheffield, Ont. area, which is in between Hamilton and Cambridge, around 10:30 p.m.
Environment Canada is now investigating after receiving reports of heavy damage.
Residents reported siding and shingle damage to their homes, as well as significant damage to a recreational vehicle. A set of bleachers at the local ballpark was reportedly carried a short distance in the air.
Photos on social media also shows evidence of some tree damage.
According to CBC Meteorologist Jay Scotland, the damage track from the incident appears to be relatively narrow — but some of the damage was scattered in different directions, which indicates a possible tornado.
Environment Canada will continue the investigation later Wednesday morning by sending a damage surveyor to Sheffield to take a first-hand look at the damage path.
A final determination be made later in the day. If confirmed, this would be the 19th tornado of the year in Ontario.
