A man was sent to hospital Tuesday morning after a crash in central Hamilton flipped a car onto its roof, police say.
It happened just before 6 a.m. at Wilson Street and Steven Street, near Wentworth. Police say the accident involved two cars and a parked vehicle. One car ended up on its roof on a front lawn.
"One vehicle did roll over," Const. Debbie McGreal-Dinning said. "Ambulance crews were notified."
One man was taken to hospital, but his condition isn't described as too serious, McGreal-Dinning said.
Carol Andrews lives at the intersection and was outside with her dogs when the crash happened. She rushed over to her fence to see what happened.
"I saw a mess."
She said it looked to her as if two of the cars were parked, a pickup and a Honda van and only one vehicle was moving. And was going fast enough to move the two parked cars, one onto a nearby front lawn.
"I believe he was going fast. There's no way he would have moved the other two vehicles around and put one on someone's lawn. "
She said speeding is common on the road, and she has complained before. "They think it's the Indianapolis Speedway. It's ridiculuous."
With houses along that part of Wilson, quite close to the road, accidents like this one can be dangerous to the residents, she said.
"It could have been a lot worse than it was."
Police are still investigating.
