HPO launches its fall season
The Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra will be launching its fall season with a Saturday night performance of Beethoven at Hamilton Place, starting at 7:30 p.m. Canadian pianist André Laplante will work with the orchestra for the performance, led by Grammy-nominated conductor Alastair Willis.
The People's Forum
The People's Forum, an experiment in crowd-sourced political policy which candidates can adopt rather than starting from scratch, will have a number of open forums Sunday. Residents can discuss current ideas and platforms, and also suggest their own. The idea is political candidates can adopt these polished platforms. There are 15 different forums. Strides For the General
Strides for The General is a 5 and 10 km run or walk in support of the Hamilton General Hospital, happening Saturday. A 19-year-old who had a stroke five months ago will be running, so you don't have many excuses not to. Registration begins at 8 a.m. at Bayfront Park. The 10 km run begins at 10:15 a.m. while the 5 km group gets going at 10:30 a.m.
Friends for Life
Need a walking buddy? You might find one at Brantford SPCA's Friends for Life walk Saturday and Sunday at 9 a.m. The event is in support of animals in need of care. Find more information here.
Meena Bazaar
A holiday bazaar filled with gifts and food put on by Hamilton's South Asian community will be Sunday afternoon from 12:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Ukranian Catholic Church at 821 Upper Wentworth St., near Mohawk Road.
