A watermain break on the east Mountain caused a sinkhole overnight, and crews expect to be on scene most of the day repairing it.
It happened near Upper Gage and Fennell, police say, and damage has caused a sinkhole of about three to five metres deep.
Police advise there are quite a few road closures in the area: the northbound lane of Upper Gage to Brucedale is closed, as is the southbound lane of Upper Ottawa from Brucedale to Fennell. The eastbound lane of Brucedale to Upper Ottawa is also closed as well as the westbound lane of Fennell from Ottawa to Gage.
Buses are being allowed to pass going north, south and west on Fennell, and crews are working to get the eastbound lane moving for public transit as well, police say.
Police are asking motorists to avoid the area.
