The training Hamilton police receive on when to use force is at issue on Day 7 of the coroner's inquest into the fatal shooting of Steve Mesic. 

The former Hamilton steelworker was shot and killed by police last June after he left a metal health facility with St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton.

The SIU cleared the officers involved of wrongdoing, but the mandatory inquest will examine the events surrounding Mesic's death. The inquest jury may also make recommendations aimed at preventing similar deaths.
