Election day is quickly approaching for Ontario, and CBC Hamilton wants you to make an informed decision when you vote.

That's why we're hosting a series of live video chats in your riding leading up to June 12. Next up is the Hamilton Centre riding on Monday, June 9 at noon. Host Samantha Craggs will be joined by Green Party candidate Peter Ormond, Liberal candidate Donna Tiqui-Shebib and PC candidate John Vail. NDP leader, and Hamilton Centre incumbernt, Andrea Horwath is unable to attend.

Know your riding

NDP Leader Andrea Horwath was first elected to the old riding of Hamilton East in a 2004 byelection. She was the victor in the 2007 election in the new Hamilton Centre riding, beating out Liberal Steve Ruddick by 6,080 votes.

Horwath had little trouble getting re-elected in 2011, capturing 61.3% of the vote.

Population: 116,398 (2011 census; a decrease of 0.9% since 2006).
