A four-month investigation has led to an arrest in the January slaying of Ernie Sitter.

On Jan. 9, Hamilton police were called to the 57-year-old man's apartment on King Street East at Edgemont and found him dead.

An autopsy revealed that Sitter had died from blunt force trauma.

His death was the city's third homicide of the year.

Investigators had made more than one appeal to the public asking for help in the probe. And on Tuesday night, police announced that they had arrested a 42-year-old Oshawa man and charged him with second-degree murder in connection with Sitter's death.

The accused was a resident of Hamilton at the time of the killing, police say.

He is scheduled to appear in court on Wednesday.

Anyone with additional information on Sitter's death is asked to contact Det. Ben Adams of the Hamilton police at 905-546-3836 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
