Spring is in full swing in Hamilton. Want proof? There is no shortage of outdoor events scheduled for this weekend in the city.
Here's a list of five things to do in Hamilton on Saturday and Sunday.
Farm crawl
It's time for the spring instalment of Farm Crawl Hamilton. A total of seven Hamilton-area farms are hosting city slickers and suburbanites Saturday, inviting them to experience up close what it's like to grow food in southern Ontario.
How does it work? Go to one of the locations, buy a ticket that will get you into all of the participating farms, and tour each one at your own pace.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tickets cost $15 for adults and $7.50 for children ages five to 16. Children under five can tag along for free.
CBC Hamilton has assembled a map of the farms you can visit. If you have any questions about the event, contact Farm Crawl organizers by phone at 905-627-9208 or by email at farmcrawl@gmail.com.
The Odyssey of Saint Sara e Kali
Who is Saint Sara e Kali? She's the patron saint of the Roma, a long-persecuted people that originated in India and have over the years become erroneously known as "Gypsies."
A festival celebrating Sara e Kali is taking place at the Willow Cove Pavillion at Confederation Park (680 Van Wagners Beach Rd.) on Saturday. Billed as a "multicultural celebration of diversity, identity and culture," the afternoon will feature stories from Hamilton's resident Roma-Canadian historian Ronald Lee, dance performances from by Dragonfly Bellydance and Paromita Kar and the drumming of Amdi Asanoski.
The free event starts at noon and goes until 5 p.m.
Attendees are invited to bring instruments and flowers to the festivities.
Tree planting at Eramosa Karst Conservation Area
Help improve Hamilton's newest conservation area during Family Tree Planting Day at Eramosa Karst park.
The Hamilton Conservation Foundation is calling out for volunteers to plant trees and remove invasive garlic mustard at the site on Saturday. The event is free and a pizza lunch will be provided.
Organizers say participants don't need to RSVP, so just show up to the conservation area's entrance (Mount Albion Road south of Highland Road) at 9:30 a.m. Volunteers should, if possible, bring sturdy boots, gloves and a shovel.
If it rains on Saturday, the rain date will be May 31. News about a possible cancellation will be posted to the Hamilton Conservation Foundation's Facebook page and Twitter stream.

Mechanical 3-in-1 Weekend
The Hamilton Museum of Steam and Technology (900 Woodward Ave.) is holding two days of hands-on educational fun during its Mechanical 3-in-1 Weekend.
Running from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday, the free event will feature three family-friendly activities. The Confederation of Marine Modellers will be showing off radio-controlled submarines and boats, operating them in a small pond on the museum's grounds.
In addition, visitors can check out ships, cranes and windmills made out of Meccano and go for rides in miniature trains set up outside.
For more information, go to the museum's events page.
Wazimbo
Considered one of the most treasured voices from the southern African nation of Mozambique, Wazimbo is performing at the Molson Canadian Studio at Hamilton Place (1 Summers Lane) on Sunday night. Born Humberto Carlos Benfica, the 65-year-old singer is best known for his 1988 track Nwahulwana, which was once featured in a Microsoft commercial and was later included on the soundtrack for the 2001 Sean Penn-directed film mystery The Pledge.
Presented by the Matapa Music and Arts Association, the show starts at 8 p.m. Tickets cost $35 at the door.
