Hamilton police have issued a "very vague" call for witnesses after an injured senior citizen was found lying in the road at a central Hamilton intersection.
Around 7:30 a.m. on Friday, officers arrived at Main Street East at Victoria Avenue South and found an "elderly man" on the ground, police said in a Saturday statement.
Paramedics took him to hospital with serious injuries.
Hamilton police Staff Sgt. Michael Spencer said investigators deemed the man's injuries "not suspicious," but said "we are kind of at loss at this point" as to how the senior got there in the first place.
"We're looking to see if anyone can account for his whereabouts prior to," said Spencer.
He wouldn't elaborate on exactly why police are conducting the probe, nor would he say whether the injured man has dementia.
"It's a very vague media release," he said. "It was made that way for a specific reason."
Police ask anyone who believes they may have information on what led up to the incident to call Division One detectives at 905-546-3817.
