Police have issued a warrant for the arrest of Edward Milligan, 34, of Grimsby (Supplied)
Hamilton police are searching for a man wanted for attempted murder.
The charge stems from a "vicious assault" police say happened on Monday at around 1 p.m., when officers and ambulance crews were called to the area of Francis Street and Douglas Avenue for a reported assault.
A 23-year-old man was found with serious injuries caused by blunt force trauma. "He was transported to hospital where he received urgent medical treatment," a police news release reads. "He had been in critical condition but has now improved and he is expected to survive."
Police say the incident was a targeted attack and not a random act — but investigators say they don't believe the suspect and victim knew each other.
Police have issued a warrant for the arrest of Edward Milligan, 34, of Grimsby. He's described as white, about six foot four inches tall and 270 pounds. He has a dark goatee and short dark hair with a receding hairline.
"If you see Edward Milligan do not approach him, please call 911 immediately," a police news release reads.
Anyone with information about the incident or Milligan's whereabouts is asked to contact Detective Peter Thom of the Homicide Unit at 905-546-3843 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
