Suspect sought for 8 sexual assaults on sex workers in Hamilton

Hamilton police is asking the public's help to identify a suspect who is believed to be responsible for a string of sexual assaults on sex workers.

Police have connected eight sexual assaults and one suspicious vehicle incident, which happened between July 2010 and March of this year.

All eight sexual assaults bare similarities, according to police. and sex workers were the targeted victims.

In these incidents, a male approached the victim while in his car. After agreeing on price for services, the victim entered the suspect's car. He then drove to a secluded location where the victim was sexually assaulted.

All the incidents happened in the central-north and east-end of Hamilton, police say.

Most of these incidents took place in warmer months, according to police, but the latest incident happened on March 3.

In the latest incident, the suspect is described as a white male in his late 30s to early 40s, medium build, bald or shaved head and clean shaven. He was wearing a black jacket with yellow sleeves and had the word "Nascar" written on the body of the jacket.

Anyone with information about any of the incidents is asked to contact Det. Scott Moore of the Sexual Assault Unit at 905-546-4614 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.

Police is also warning sex workers to be mindful of their safety. There is no guaranteed way to prevent a sexual assault, police said.

"Sharing the details of this assault is intended to provide the community information, and people are encouraged to trust their instincts," police said in a release.
