Is he on  or is he off? The most controversial question that will be answered when Hockey Canada announces its team for the 2014 Sochi Olympics will have to do with former Hamilton Bulldog P.K. Subban.

CBC Hamilton has the announcement here live at 10 a.m. Tuesday.

Carey Price and P.K. Subban

Goalie Carey Price and defenceman P.K. Subban are hockey's version of the odd couple. Price is a country boy who loves rodeo and George Strait, while Subban is an outgoing, charismatic city slicker who loves the spotlight. What they do have in common is the fact any prolonged success or failure of the Montreal Canadiens this season falls on their shoulders. Should either of them struggle, expect the team to struggle. Subban isn't the only former Bulldog who could be on the roster. All signs point to Subban's Montreal Canadiens teammate Carey Price being one of three goalies selected. Many experts suggest the goalie is the favourite to be the team's starting goaltender when the puck drops next month.

There's less certainty about Subban. Despite winning the Norris Trophy given to the league's best defenceman last year, the same experts suggest that he's no favourite among the group that is selecting this year's team.

Subban has received some high-profile support. Both Wayne Gretzky and Hockey Night in Canada's Don Cherry voiced their support. Click on the audio link on this page to hear Subban's reaction to the support he received from The Great One. Subban also talks about playing in Hamilton with Montreal teammate David Deharnais.

Subban was a Bulldog during the 2009-10 season then was called up to the Montreal Canadiens for two playoff games. He was third in team scoring as a 20-year-old rookie with 53 points in 77 games.

Price was a big part of the AHL Championship Bulldogs team in 2006-07. He only played two regular season games before leading the team to the Calder Cup following the end of his junior hockey career.
