Hamilton police arrested one man in the slaying of McMaster student Tyler Johnson and are hoping security video can identify two more suspects connected with a shooting they now call targeted.
Johnson, 30, was shot dead at a King St. W. plaza near Hess Village around 3 a.m on Nov. 30. Police said there was an altercation that quickly got out of hand, before one suspect produced a handgun and shot Johnson.
Johnson was taken to hospital but died from his injuries.
Police said they are still looking for a motive in the case, and are looking to identify a series of men who were either with the shooter or victim that night.

The men were captured on a series of surveillance videos from nearby restaurants. The plaza, which has a Tim Hortons, pita restaurant and convenience store, has been the site of violence before, including another homicide earlier this year.
Brandon Barreira, 19, of Cambridge was arrested and charged with first-degree murder. He was set to appear in court Thursday. Police said they seized evidence relating to the case.
