Hamilton DayStarter: Everything you need to know Wednesday

What a day... three suspended senators and a mayor who admits to smoking crack cocaine. No one can say the news in Canada isn't interesting.

As I'm sure you've all heard, Toronto mayor Rob Ford admitted to smoking crack cocaine "in a drunken stupor" probably about a year ago. For six months, he denied he had ever used the drug. Why did he fess up yesterday?

And while most of Ontario was watching evening newscasts largely dedicated to Ford, the senate voted to suspend, without pay but benefits intact, three senators facing allegations of fraud for the remainder of the term. Only Pamela Wallin spoke to media after the vote, saying it is a sad day for democracy. Keep in mind none of the senators, Wallin, Mike Duffy or Patrick Brazeau, have been convicted of anything.

What will today have in store? No one knows.

It's Take Your Kids to Work Day and CBC Hamilton is collecting your parent-and-kid-at-work photos! Send to hamilton@cbc.ca or tweet @CBCHamilton. Have a great day at work, Grade 9ers! (This is me in grade 9 baby, yeeeeaah, this is me in grade 9!)

No public transit issues to report on HSR or GO Transit this morning.

At 8:30 a.m., the on-ramp to the QEW from the 403 westbound is blocked after a collision. There is also a collision in the left shoulder 403 westbound east of Upper Middle.

If you're QEW Ford Erie-bound this morning, both ramps at Glendale are closed after a tractor trailer roll-over.

West 5th is moving slowly down the access to the lower city at 8:30 a.m. James is also slow from the bottom of that access to King Street. The Jolley Cut and down John Street into the lower city is also moving slowly for your commute. Upper Wellington and Upper James are slow as well.

Here's a map of ongoing construction around the city that might slow down your morning commute.

Another warm November morning. 8 C for your walk to work today and a calm, sunny morning. But don't let that fool you! Grab that umbrella, as silly as it might feel to carry an umbrella when the morning is this gorgeous.

We could have rain by the day's end. A low of 3 C tonight and rain until midnight.

Here's what Thursday has in store: a temperature drop. Back to single digits tomorrow with a projected high of 7 C.

Well, we may not have a senate or mayoral scandal, but stuff happens in Hamilton, too.

New research from the Social Planning and Research Council shows Hamilton pedestrians and cyclists are at a greater risk of getting hit on the roads than the provincial average, and Hamilton has the highest rate of pedestrian death in the province.

The report's author, planner Sarah Mayo, will present her findings to the general issues committee today. Our city hall reporter Samantha Craggs will be there. You can follow her on Twitter at @SamCraggsCBC.

We'll have Sarah in for a live audio chat tomorrow at noon to answer your questions. Have a comment? Email hamilton@cbc.ca, tweet @CBCHamilton or join us live online Thursday at noon at cbc.ca/hamilton.

Looking for a new career? What about the steel industry? Despite contrary belief, experts say the future is bright. Check out the next installment of CBC Hamilton's Work Week coverage.

Another Hamilton nature beauty shot from @HamiltonsBeauty. Looks just as good in black and white.

What would happen if you told your kids you ate all their Halloween candy?
