A Hamilton man faces multiple charges after police pursued him on a highway this weekend and brought his vehicle to a halt using their cruisers.

The Ontario Provincial Police say they responded to reports about a vehicle driving "erratically" along the QEW, near the Centennial Parkway, just after noon on Saturday.

Police caught up with the vehicle, which had been reported stolen, when it was near Burlington Street on the Toronto-bound side of the highway. They used their own vehicles to stop the driver.

According to a police news release, the driver suffered "minor injuries" when he was removed from the vehicle. He was subsequently taken to hospital for treatment and released.

The 26-year-old accused faces seven charges, including refusing to provide a breath sample, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, possession of property obtained by crime, assault and flight from police.
