Good morning, Hamilton, and happy Tuesday!
A bit of a chill in the air when you step out the door this fine fall morning – 6 C at 8 a.m., so grab a jacket and a scarf for the road. Expect sunshine all day and a high of 17 C later on.
In the news today, the National Energy Board begins its hearings in Montreal on Enbridge's proposal to reverse the flow of Pipeline 9. Enbridge says they want to source more domestic oil from the west and send it east. The 38-year-old pipeline runs form Sarnia to Montreal, with the midpoint in Westover, rural Hamilton. The pipeline also runs through environmentally-significant areas locally.
The NEB has already approved the reversal for the first portion of the pipeline, from Sarnia to Westover. These hearings concern the remainder of the pipeline (Line 9B), from Westover to Montreal.
At noon today, CBC Hamilton hosts a live audio chat with Sarah Harmer, musician and environmental activist, who has been outspoken about this pipeline. She has a personal connection – it runs below the Harmer family farm in Mount Nemo and close to her home north of Kingston. Harmer will also make a presentation to the NEB at the hearing's continuation next week. Join us at noon to listen to to conversation with Harmer and join in by asking her questions in a text chat. You can email us questions ahead of time at hamilton@cbc.ca or tweet @CBCHamilton.
All clear on Hamilton roads and local highways early this morning. MTO is reporting everything is moving well on the QEW, 403 and 401.
No issues to report on HSR or GO Transit either. Smooth sailing.
However, if need to take the 11-Parkdale route, there is a detour all week because of CN Rail track repairs. Read about that detour here.
Here's a list of ongoing construction projects around the city that might slow down your commute today.

No chance of rain today. At all. No rain. Just like Blind Melon said.
6 C at 8 a.m. this Tuesday morning, so throw on a jacket and scarf on your way out the door. But you'll just need it for the walk into work today. A high of 17 C and sunny later today. We're going down to a low of 5 C tonight.
Wednesday will be a bit warmer – 19 C expected tomorrow.
Are you a cyclist in Hamilton? Well, you're part of a growing contingent. The public works committee said yesterday the number of Hamiltonians identifying as cyclists grew a whopping 63 per cent from 2001-2006, and the community is only getting larger. Read city hall reporter Samantha Craggs report here.
Don't forget to read up on Enbridge Pipeline 9 ahead of the CBC Hamilton live chat with Sarah Harmer, musician and environmental activist, at noon today. Read about the National Energy Board hearings here. A bit about the pipeline here. Some info about the city hall response here. And about the local activism here.
For a wrap of the day's top stories, take a listen to the CBC AM Express, hosted by World Report host David Common.
Check out this beauty of a photo, courtesy of @ray_love. That's Tews Falls in the fall.
Oh my gosh, this little guy. Here's some raw video of a brand new, white lion cub at the zoo in Belgrade, Serbia. He is trying so hard to roar. It really couldn't be more adorable.
CBC fan, be sure to park yourself in front of a TV at 8 p.m. tonight for the season premier of This Hour Has 22 Minutes. The cast even recorded a special message for you, Hamilton.
Stay up at 8:30 p.m. A new episode of The Rick Mercer Report to follow.
