Police have identified the victim in a fatal central Hamilton shooting.
Wor Yahana Wur, a 21-year-old from Mississauga, died in hospital after he was shot in an apartment building on Hess Street South early on Friday morning.
An autopsy, police say, confirmed that Wur died from loss of blood from his wounds.
A 23-year-old man of no fixed address has been charged with second-degree murder in the incident.
Police are also looking for the public's help in the search for another suspect in the shooting.
He is described as male, 20 to 30 years of age, five foot ten, 180 to 190 lbs., wearing a dark coat and dark pants.
Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call the Hamilton police's homicide unit at 905-546-4123 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
About a dozen police cruisers were called to 95 Hess St. S. just after 4 a.m. on Friday morning, responding to calls about the sound of gunfire on the fourth floor.
Carmen D'Angelo, a manager with Hamilton EMS, said two men in their 20s were taken to Hamilton General Hospital. One man had gunshot wounds, D'Angelo said.
Jim Addley, a resident of the building, told CBC News later on Friday he heard a bang in the early morning, but figured somebody had lit off a firecracker in the one of the hallways.
He said he hears screaming and fights in hallways on a regular basis, and has become accustomed to hearing loud noises in the middle of the night.
"I mind my own business. It's nothing new around here."
