The Hamilton Police Service is embarking on its "holiday traffic safety program" this long weekend, targeting in particular "aggressive drivers."
"Officers will be concentrating on such things as red light runners, changing lanes without signalling and excessive speed," police spokesman Claus Wagner said in a statement. "Under Ontario's stunt driving legislation, drivers who drive over 50 km/h can face a roadside drivers' licence suspension and vehicle impoundment."
Officers will also be conducting RIDE checks throughout the weekend and remind residents not to drink and drive.
Hamilton police have also launched a mobile app that has information about road safety, including material on traffic laws, safe cycling and collision reporting.
But don't consult the app while driving. Doing so could land you a $155 fine.
