Hamilton Greek Fest

When: Friday, Aug. 16 to Sunday, Aug. 18

Where: Inch Park, 233 East 15th St.

Cost: Free

Hamilton's annual Greek festival offers dancing, performances, cooking classes, prize draws, face painting for the kids and plenty of food. Register online to participate in breaking a Guinness World Record for the largest Zeibekiko dance. It's all happening in Inch Park, at East 15th and Brucedale. The fun starts on Friday at 6 p.m. until 11 p.m. Saturday the festival is open from 12-11 p.m. and Sunday from 12-10 p.m.

Dundas Cactus Festival

When: Friday, Aug. 16 to Sunday, Aug. 18

Where: King Street in Dundas

See The Dave Ptolemy Band and Lighthouse play on Saturday. There's also jazz, aboriginal drum performances, a reptile show and a superhero party for children. The events are located along King Street in Dundas. Visit the Dundas Cactus Festival website for a full list.

Hamilton Harbour Fishing Derby

When: Saturday, Aug. 17

Where: Pier 8, 47 Discovery Dr.

Cost: Free

Catch the winning fish and you could win a prize. The derby runs from 8 a.m. to 12 noon at Pier 8, 47 Discovery Dr. There are three age categories — children under 10, youth 11 to 17 and an adult division.

A Mid Summer's Dream

When: Saturday, Aug. 17

Where: Gage Park

Cost: Free, but donations for a local food bank are encouraged

Colour is in the air this Saturday in Gage Park. Watch performances from the Ohnia Kara Drummers, alternative rock bank Jetpacks to Jupiter and more. See the art installations and buskers. The event was inspired by 'Holi', the Hindu festival of colour. A Mid Summer's Dream is free but a donation of canned food for a local food bank is encouraged. The Create Joy Fund organized the event and it runs from 1 to 11 p.m.

STREETSIDE

When: Sunday, Aug. 18

Where: Along Pier 8 and the Waterfront Trail

Cost: Free

Listen to free Latin and Caribbean music on the waterfront in celebration of the Pan Am Games planned for 2015. Musicians will perform salsa, tango, cajun, samba, reggae, funk and calypso tunes. Take the Discovery Drive entrance, walk along Pier 8 and the Waterfront Trail. Catch performances from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. The Pan Am games organizing committee, TO2015, organized the event.
