Olivier Archambault netted the Hamilton Bulldogs' only goal in their 5-1 blowout loss to the Rochester Americans on Saturday.
Evan Rankin, Phil Varone, Maxime Legault, Dan Catenacci and Luke Adam each scored for Rochester (42-29-4), which holds the sixth place playoff berth in the Western Conference with one game remaining.
David Leggio made 29 saves as the Americans, the home team in this contest.
Archambault's goal cut Rochester's lead to 2-1 at 10:13 in the second, but a power-play goal by Varone two minutes later restored the Americans' insurance.
Dustin Tokarski finished with 22 saves on 27 shots in net for Hamilton, which will finish the season Sunday as the AHL's worst team at 29-40-6. The rout in Rochester came a day after the Bulldogs won at home, beating the St. John's IceCaps 4-1.
The Bulldogs and the Americans will face off again on Sunday — this time in Hamilton — to wrap up the regular season.
