A 22-year-old Hamilton man is facing drug charges after police found several illegal substances in his car.
On Monday at around 12:30 p.m., police pulled over a car near the intersection of Cootes Drive and Sanders Boulevard. An officer smelled marijuana smoke and then searched the vehicle.
According to police spokesman Klaus Wagner, the search yielded marijuana, Oxycontin, crack cocaine and hydromorphone, a derivative of morphine that's similar to heroin, as well more than $1,000 in cash.
Police arrested the driver, charging him with five counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and one count of possession of the proceeds of crime.
The accused's bail hearing was scheduled for Tuesday.
