A man died in Flamborough Saturday night after his snowmobile crashed into a tree line near Westover Road and Safari Road. Police say speed and alcohol were both factors.

The man left a party nearby on snowmobile and was cutting across a property at 1245 Westover Road when he started to quickly approach the tree line. He abruptly steered away, causing the machine to flip and he was ejected into the tree line, police say.

His friends discovered him when they became worried about his extended absense and searched the area. They called 911 around 7:44 p.m. and though EMS attempted to resuscitate the man, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Central Station, Divisional Detectives, the Coroner and Collision Reconstruction were contacted to investigate the matter further.

The male's identity is being withheld at the request of next-of-kin.
