Police have located and arrested a suspect who was wanted in connection with a downtown Hamilton mugging.
Officers caught up with Christopher Draskoczy, 21, on Wednesday night. He faces robbery and breach of probation charges after a Monday afternoon theft in the city's core.
Around 12:30 p.m., two teenagers — a female and a male — met up with a man who was known them and two of his friends near Jackson Square.
The group moved to a building east of the mall. While in a stairwell, the teenagers were assaulted and robbed, police say.
The female teen was robbed of her purse, which contained electronics as well as personal identification.
The assailants fled the scene on foot.
Police spokesperson Debbie McGreal-Dinning told CBC Hamilton on Thursday morning that Draskozcy is in custody and is expected to be released after a bail hearing that is scheduled for the afternoon.
