Outgoing McMaster Marauders quarterback Kyle Quinlan has one semester of school left. However, it's obvious from his Monday interview with CBC Windsor that it's his future in football, not academics, that's on the top of his mind.

Fresh from leading his team to a second consecutive Vanier Cup birth, Quinlan will attend the Montreal Alouettes' training camp this spring, having recently signed a three-year contract with the club.

An illustrious CFL career for Quinlan, though, is far from assured. Canadian QBs seldom get much gameplay, a fact that's clearly not lost on the 23-year-old from South Woodslee, Ont.

"I'm realistic about the circumstances," he told CBC Windsor's The Early Shift, but added he's still optimistic.

"I don't think I'm anywhere near my potential," said Quinlan, who won the 2012 Hec Creighton trophy, which honours the most valuable player in Canadian college football.

"You just have to find a [coach] who has faith in your ability."
