One person is dead and another injured after a fatal crash Friday morning in Flamborough.
Hamilton EMS was called to 1733 Dundas Street, east of Woodhill Road around 10:15 a.m., officials say.
A black truck had left the road and slammed into a tree. Police say there was a single occupant in the vehicle, but did not release an age or gender.
"At one point, the vehicle was on fire," EMS official Ian Wright told CBC Hamilton.
Officials say the driver died at the scene. Early reports indicate the driver was an elderly man.
Wright said an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause of death.
A 52-year-old male "Good Samaritan" attempted to save the driver, Wright said. The man sustained cuts to his hands trying to pull the driver from the wreck. He was treated at the scene.
The police reconstruction unit is assisting with the investigation into the crash. Dundas Street was closed from Orkney Road to Woodhill for the investigation.
