Firefighters spent hours dousing a pile of smoldering steel in Hamilton early Saturday.
Crews were called to the scrapyard at 140 Regional Road 20, east of Highway 20 just before midnight.
Fire officials say a large pile of scrap steel ignited, likely because something was unintentionally dropped or mixed in with it.
"The owner had quite a few antique cranes and bulldozers on site," said fire official Dave Christopher.
There are no hydrants in the area, so four tanker trucks had to be called in to support the 15 firefighters on scene, Christopher said.
He said the fire was "probably accidental," and didn't have a damage estimate.
No one was injured.
