Hamilton police have arrested and charged 31-year-old Jennifer Jackson with assault with a weapon and failure to remain after a woman leaving a house party was struck by a car.

Around 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 6, a woman was crossing Barton St. E. near Westinghouse Ave. when she was struck by a car driven by a fellow party-goer. The driver and victim both fled the scene, but witnesses nearby alerted Hamilton police, who later tracked down the victim when she went to the hospital for her injuries.

Sgt. Terri-Lynn Collings explained the victim and driver had known each other for some time and were both attending the same house party that night. At 10:30 p.m. that night, the driver was arrested at her home in Hamilton and charged.

Jennifer Jackson, of Hamilton, was held for a bail hearing and is set to appear in court at a future date.
