Over $120,000 was raised for the Good Shepherd Centre in Hamilton Thursday night at the 14th annual Good Shepherd Harvest dinner.
"We simply want to express our deepest thanks to our supporters and Hamilton at large for continuing to help us serve those in need," said Executive Director Brother Richard MacPhee, who also received the Queen's Diamond Jubilee Medal at the event for his service to the community.
The funds raised will benefit more than 26 programs operated by Good Shepherd to help people struggling with addiction, poverty and mental illness, and also to provide adequate food and housing for those in need.
More than 850 supporters attended the event at Carmen's Banquet Hall.
"We are very proud of Brother Richard, but even more proud of the ongoing generosity of this community and its belief in the benefits of reaching out to help those who are struggling in our city and whose lives are being turned around by the programs we offer," added Cathy Wellwood, Chief Development Officer at Good Shepherd.
